I saw Brandi Carlile in concert last night. As Frank Goodman says in his Pure Music interview with Carlile, "Raw talent vs. expensive packaging is always a pleasant surprise in the entertainment business." An amazing talent with a Melissa Etheridge-meets-k.d. lang sound, she is the real deal!

Trouble in Nash-ville

Sadly, solo artist and former Sixpence None the Richer frontwoman Leigh Nash and her husband, PFR drummer Mark Nash, have divorced. Leigh announced the news via an emotional MySpace blog entry on Aug. 23.

The March to Washington

If you're like me, you've wondered what happened to Souljahz. The hip-hop sibling trio paired down to a duo when brother Joshu'a exited the group to pursue other interests. The remaining two, Je'kob and Rachael Washington, have formed new outfit the Washington Projects, with an indie release entitled "Commanders of the Resistance" scheduled to drop on Oct. 9.
