Yesterday I bought a ticket to see Brandi Carlile at Nashville's historic Belcourt Theatre in May. I'm excited that I'll have a seat for this show. (Last time I saw her in concert, the venue was [virtually] standing room only. And you know how I feel about that...)

Here's something I never expected to report: Inpop Records announced today that Michael Tait is now officially the touring frontman of the Newsboys. According to the 'boys' Web site, "...Tait will be touring with the band as lead singer with [22-year veteran singer] Peter [Furler] making special appearances throughout the year. Peter will continue with the band and his trademark songwriting production will remain as he focuses his professional career toward future Newsboys recordings." Never in my wildest dc Talk-fan days would I have imagined this pairing. The surprising news awakened dozens of memories of my concert-crazed adolescence, during which I attended many a dc Talk and Newsboys show.

Wells Digs Deep

I saw Tyrone Wells in concert for the first time Sunday night. He is truly one of the most underappreciated singers I've heard in a LONG time. The proof lies in one spin of his national debut, Hold On.
