Jazz from Home
During this largely stay-at-home point in time, I have appreciated Nashville Jazz Workshop's "Jazz From Home" sessions. On Aug. 26, I enjoyed the Mechem family's tribute to women composers, led by NJW's co-founder, pianist Lori Mechem; featuring her bassist husband, Roger Spencer, and parents Larry and Nancy Mechem, on trumpet and vocals, respectively. On Sept. 2, Joe Davidian served up a spirited, solo piano performance for virtual viewers, highlighting original tunes from his jazz trio, The Lost Melody.
