A Look Back: ZOEgirl

I was assigned a feature story on pop/rock trio ZOEgirl for Release magazine's October/November 2003 issue.  While the publication folded (for the second time) before the scheduled article was printed, I still have all the elements of my interview with the ladies -- audio tape, notes, press kit and copy -- filed away in my office closet.

A Look Back: The Katinas

I was assigned a feature story on pop/rock sibling band The Katinas for Release magazine's December 2003/January 2004 issue.  While the publication folded (for the second time) before the scheduled article was printed, I still have all the elements of my interview with the brothers -- audio tape, notes, press kit and copy -- filed away in my office closet.

A Look Back: Release Magazine

As I recently noted, there is very little electronic evidence that 7ball/Seven Ball magazine existed.  There is even less online proof that its sister magazine, Release, was ever in print.  In light of that void, I am documenting photographic evidence in this post, both of the initial run of the publication (featuring Katy Hudson-soon-to-be-Perry above) and the single issue of its reincarnation, to which I contributed (see below).

A Look Back: Across the Sky & Everman Album Reviews

I reviewed Across the Sky's self-titled pop debut for revamped Release magazine's September 2003 issue, which -- as it turned out -- would be the only edition of the momentarily revived mag.  I also reviewed pop/rock outfit Everman's eponymous freshman release for the same solo issue.
